일주일만에 이태리어 정복하기 파트 1

 

파트 1을 보며 언어를 배우는 과정에 있어 이 친구가 제시한 방법론들 상당 부분 공감했고, 본인이 중요하게 생각하는 점은 이전 포스팅에서 언급했다.

간략히 요약해보면, 첫 단계에선 일상에서 가장 많이 쓰이는 단어 1000개 외우기,  두 번째 단계에선 그 단어들을 붙이는 작업들을 하는데, 그 과정에서 가장 흔히 쓰이는 동사, 시제, 전치사 등을 익히고 활용하여 문장을 만들어 보는 것, 마지막으론 다른 외부 매체들을 활용하여 직접 그들이 쓰는 표현방식에 노출되고 익혀나가기이다.

 
언어 공부에 있어 이것이 정답이다 라는 것은 없지만, 처음 영어를 할 때는 그렇지 않았으나, 입시 전쟁의 소용돌이 속에 휘말려 중학교 들어갔을 때부터 문법과 독해 위주로 배웠기에, 영어학은 알았지겠지만 영어는 못했다.
하지만 언어를 언어답게 배워나가기 위해서 파트 1에서 제시한 방법에 따라 공부해보면 굉장히 좋을 것 같다.

나 역시 영어 전공자도 아니고, 한국에서 영어를 배웠다고 하지만, 유학 전까진 제대로 된 영어를 입 밖으로 뱉지 못했었으니..

운이 좋게 유학 간 첫날부터 친절한 멕시코 친구를 만나 친해지고 어학원을 다니면서 다양한 국적의 몇몇 맘 맞는 친구들을 사귈 수 있었다.

그러면서 오전부터 오후까진 어학원에서 공부하고, 집에 와서 혼자 복습을 5~6개월 정도 하고 나니 기본적인 표현이나 문장을 만들 수 있었는데 아마 그 무렵쯤 영어로 꿈을 꾸기 시작한 것 같다.

그때의 나에게 필요했던 것이 바로 지금 소개하는 파트 2에서 제시한 네 번째 방법이다.

 

네 번째 단계: 실수하기

 

 

 

 

Making mistakes is stage 4. 

it sounds a little bit counter-intuitive but He thinks that you should just take a leap and go for it once you have gone through the 3 stages already.

No one likes to be dull or stupid when they speak other languages but it's inevitable that you should make mistakes to test what you've learned and correct and adjust and improve.

simply it's the best way to get better. you cannot just study your way to proficiency.   

 

Therefore, use Meet-up app: meet the people that speak the language that you are learning  

 

 

meet-up if you live in a big city.

 

 

if you don't live in a big city, use the internet,

Use Italki to skype with native speakers or HelloTalk to text with local people in penpal style.

The point is not to do not make mistakes, the point is to speak and connect with somebody to exchange ideas. 

put your fear of failure aside for a second and open yourself up to something new! 

He cares about getting good not about mastering the language. 

His priority is human interactions, not a perfect discourse.

Q: being able to speak many languages changed your thoughts or perspective? 

A: Yes, When you are learning other languages, you are not just learning the vocabularies, the lexicon, the grammar. you are also learning the way the language thinks so the sentence structure and the way you express yourself reflects the cultural background. once you learn how to say things idiomatically then you immerse yourself, automatically, in the way the people that speak the language see the world. so Automatically the way you perceive the world changes too. 

 

Q: Speaking other languages opened doors or gave you more opportunities in life?

A: Absolutely, French gave me the opportunity to move to France for my master's degree. And working with a French firm, in France during my studies which He would have never been able to do and I could make many French friends. 

English is the first step and then you have all the ramifications. 

 

Q: There are a lot of people who think that you only need to speak English because it's an international language but it can't do everything. do you have suggestions for the ones who want to learn a foreign language?

A: One solution which is let's say, instantaneous which is to get a boyfriend or a girlfriend, a partner that speaks that language. 

 

Q: What if it's not possible? 

A: you do it, that's all :) if you really want to learn the language, you have to go all the way and, you do what's necessary. 

and here it's necessary to find someone that speaks that language

everything he does in the channel or challenges, to be consistent is the most important factor to learn languages.

it's not just for languages whatever you do, a little bit every day is the best way to go. consistency is the key

 

when you are exposed to the language every single day, you are as likely not to forget stuff that you've learned, you are activating your part of the brain that is observing the new language. 

The way he has been doing is to listen to Italian podcasts or music while he runs. this really helps him in order not to lose what he's learned also built on. 

 

언어를 배우는 과정은 운동을 하는 과정과 비슷하다고 생각한다.

복근을 만들기 위해 수많은 싯업과 프랭크, 유산소 윤동, 식단 관리 등 다양한 자극을 줄 수 있는 운동이 필요하듯, 언어를 배운다는 것 역시 기본적으로 필요한 언어에 필요한 지식을 쌓고, 내 머릿속에 있는 지식들을 입으로 뱉고, 상대의 이야기를 귀로 듣고 이해하며 소통하는 끊임없는 input, output 과정의 반복이다.

그 과정을 지속적인 쌓다 보면 개인적으로 언어를 배우는 시간은 개인차가 있겠으나 의지와 열정만 있으면 누구도 원하는 언어를 익힐 수 있다고 확신한다. 

 

이번 영상에서 가장 인상적이었던 부분은 언어를 배울 때 이 친구의 태도였다.

언어를 마스터하겠다는 마음가짐이 아니라 그 언어를 배우는 사람들과의 연결됨 그리고 소통을 중요시했다.

그 지역에 사는 사람들에 관심을 가지고 언어교환을 참여하며, 친구들을 사귀고 어울리며 함께 할 수 있는 시간을 많이 가질 수 있도록 의식적으로 노력해야 한다.

그 과정에서 평생 연락을 주고받을 다른 나라에 사는 친구가 생기기도 하고, 그 친구의 친구들을 소개받으며 더 많이 배우는 언어에 노출될 수 있는 기회를 만들 수 있다.
